Message from the Maryland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Dick Gelfman's Ride Across Maryland is one of the most financially successful third party fundraising events in the 25 year history of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Up to 75% of the net funds raised stay in Maryland to support local education, screening and treatment programs. These direct services improve the lives of breast cancer survivors and their families. A minimum of 25% of net funds raised support the National Komen Award and Research Grant Program. The national grants program is the second largest source of breast cancer research funds behind the federal government and we fully expect that this research is where we will find a cure for breast cancer.
We are very proud of our long association with the Ride and look forward to participating every year. Komen Maryland was recently named the Affiliate of the Year and we wish to thank the Ride Across Maryland for playing such an integral role in our success. Our promise is to save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures. With your participation, we will find a cure.
